This research aimed to analyze the influence of socioeconomic factors on technical efficiency in solid waste collection management across the 42 municipalities of the province of Lima. To achieve this, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was employed to estimate the technical efficiency of each municipality. The input variables considered were the level of human development, population size, and municipal personnel dedicated to public cleaning services. Subsequently, a Tobit model was applied to estimate the effect of socioeconomic variables on the efficiency levels obtained. The results show that the model is not statistically significant at the 5% level (p = 0.1736). Specifically, population (p = 0.675) and the human development index (p = 0.128) did not show significant effects, while cleaning personnel exhibited a negative relationship that is marginally significant at the 10% level (p = 0.0601). This study provides relevant empirical evidence for the formulation of public policies and the improvement of solid waste collection management at the municipal level.
