Experimenta Distrito: a program for proposals and citizen participation in the neighborhoods of Madrid. Towards the constitution of permanent local laboratories

Abstract

The objective of this research is to approach the Experimenta Distrito program, a temporary
citizen laboratory in the city of Madrid, in which the neighbours could collaborate to develop collective projects that improve the life in common. With this article, I pretend to think about the role that citizen participation plays in Madrid at present. The theoretical perspective that I assume is based on the study of Experimenta Villaverde as an example that brings together a series of structural, strategic and methodological characteristics, susceptible of being replicated in different neighbourhoods or even different cities.
