Preserving the archival memory of the brazilian federal public administration

Abstract

The current article proposes to identify the social agents responsible for the preservation the memory of the national public administration offices located in Brasília and to analyse the role ofthe management information systems of the Brazilian public administration related to preservation ofthe memory of the state's activities. As a sample, we chose the set of 24 ministries of the federal public administration. We verify that in the SIGA's offices, both sectorial and sectional, are responsible forthe preservation of the documentary memory. In general, these units are the general records,protocols or the document's coordination. It was possible to observe that the documental preservation are strongly linked to the function of a documental management program operated by the archival units.
