Author Biography

  • Guillermo Salas Carreño, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru

    PhD of Anthropology from the University of Michigan and Master's degree of Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. Associate Professor of Anthropology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). Interested in the relations between extractive industries and rural society, in particular the way in which indigenous practices related to the landscape mediate the emergence and transformation of conflicts between local communities and mining projects. Author of "Mining and the living materiality of mountains in Andean societies" (2017) and "Places are Kin: Food, Cohabitation, and Sociality in the Southern Peruvian Andes" (2016).
