The Form of Truth: A Proposed Reading of Spinoza's Epistemology

Abstract

“The Form of Truth” is a brief essay in which I will try to read some aspects of Spinoza’s epistemology in terms of power. Spinoza’s epistemological project is groundbreaking because his philosophy tried to conceive knowledge in so far as it is the power of the intellect to know (potentia); however, the Dutch philosopher also drew some kind of limit to the faculty to know (impotentia). We will analyze the concept of certainty and truth in Spinoza, as well as discussing Spinoza’s theory of attributes in order to sketch an idea on truth.
