Abstract

Why does our own portrait fascinate us? Starting from writings that describe the image, I attempt to explain, both experimentally and theoretically, the physical and emotional impact of the experience of self-portrait. Moreover, how the act of photographing oneself is a performance and can play a role in introspection.

Author Biography

  • Eloïse Boitelle, Escuela Europea de Artes Visuales (Angulema, Francia)

    Eloïse Boitelle nació en 1999 en Tours, Francia. Obtuvo el Diploma Nacional Superior de Expresión de Artes Plásticas de la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Angulema en 2024 y escribió una tesis de investigación y creación sobre la historia del autorretrato fotográfico. En 2024, realizó un cortometraje titulado Afrosiab o determinismo en la resiliencia, rodado en Uzbekistán y que aborda el concepto filosófico del determinismo. Actualmente trabaja en Francia y su práctica artística se centra en la edición, la poesía y la fotografía. Hoy en día, sus principales temas de interés son los árboles y la vida cotidiana.
