Abstract

The year 2020 will go down in history as one of the most challenging years for humanity, both due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis it caused. In order to contain the accelerated spread of the virus, governments implemented a series of sanitary measures (mainly quarantines), which limited the operations of a large number of economic activities.
Consequently, there was a contraction of the economy and an increase in unemployment to historical levels. Among these, the reduction in reference interest rates, the relaxation of reserve requirements, liquidity giving operations and credit promotion mechanisms stand out.
