La influencia de la reducción de las tasas de interés y las medidas de estímulo gubernamentales en el comportamiento del sector inmobiliario durante la pandemia

Abstract

After the Covid-19 situation and the restrictions on economic activity, the demand for the real estate sector suffered a strong contraction along with the rest of the productive sectors. Given this situation, this article proposes to determine to what extent the reduction of interest rates and government stimulus measures influence the behavior of the real estate sector during the pandemic. In the development of the work, first, the government stimulus measures implemented before the pandemic that drive the expansion of mortgage loans will be explained. Then, the impact of the pandemic on the placement of loans and delinquencies, and the government stimulus measures that were applied for the purchase of homes will be analyzed. The article found that the reduction in the reference rate and the stimulus measures had a positive influence on the behavior of this sector.
