Abstract

This work analyses the problems of female adolescence and the Gothic tradition in the stories “La Virgen de la tosquera” and “Carne” by the Argentine writer Mariana Enríquez. In her work, Gothic works with characteristics that combine the everyday with the fantastic to address the individual and social ills of contemporary Argentina. Meanwhile, her exploration of female adolescence includes topics such as sexuality, psychological repression and the influence of the social environment in their formation as members of a community.
