Abstract

Digital Humanities methodologies enable new perspectives on historical sources. Over the years, various digital applications have emerged for studying the past, raising ethical concerns about research and its impact on individuals and groups. This article presents a case study from a university course, analyzing the diary of merchant Heinrich Witt and his experiences in 19th-century Peru through social network mapping. It explains the methods used and their limitations.
