Abstract

The “Revista de la semana” is a common format in most of Nineteenth-Century magazines in Lima. In this article I review its development in the magazines oriented to the female audience. I describe how this journalistic format, common
in political magazines, is taken by the writers of the generation of 1870 and transformed into a discursive format that explores women’s relation with the public space, through the comment of the social and cultural events that were going on in that time in Lima.
