Abstract

In this article, I analyze the position that Father Jeffrey Klaiber had about the important role of reason and autonomy for the development of citizen awareness and for the construction of just and ethical people. In an anecdotal way, and making a review of some of his writings, this text presents Jeffrey Klaiber not only as a historian but also fundamentally as an educator fully aware of the need to promote personal autonomy as a source of regulation of action, and as an indispensable element for a democratic coexistence.
