Evaluation Guidelines
Reception of manuscripts
All texts submitted to Areté should meet the criteria indicated in the Authors’ Guidelines for the submission of articles. First, the author should send their text to our email address including the following information: names and surnames, institutional membership, mailing address and telephone number (information required for the delivery of their printed issue), title of the text, type of text (article, book review or document), keywords and a brief summary. The Word document should not include any kind of information that allows the identification of the author. The editorial team assesses the thematic and scientific pertinence of all received manuscripts before sending them for evaluation. In case the editorial team decides that the article does not correspond to the journal’s focus and scope, the article will be returned to its author. If the paper is accepted, the author receives an email informing them of the successful reception of their work and the estimated time intervals for the general evaluation and publication process.
Evaluation and review (double-blind)
For the selection of articles to be published, Areté uses a double-blind peer review process with the support of prominent researchers. Each article is sent to two reviewers. We contact reviewers immediately, however, sometimes the process may be delayed due to reviewers’ limited availability or their lack of response. Under optimal conditions, the evaluation process requires approximately two months. Nevertheless, the actual duration depends greatly on reviewers.
There are three possible reviewers’ decisions:
- The manuscript is accepted without modifications.
- The manuscript is accepted with some modifications. In this case, the author will receive the suggestions of the reviewers. They will have a deadline of two months to send their final version. This version should include a report of the undertaken corrections.
- The manuscript is rejected.
After the reception of the final version, the manuscript will be immediately proof-read, laid out, and published.
Corrections and publication
During the editing process, the author might be contacted if there is some ambiguity or peculiarity in their paper which requires special attention. Before the publication of the article, the author must declare their conformity with the result of the editing process. Past this point, corrections or modifications will not be accepted.
