Abstract

The social construction of risk is an approach that understands risk not only from the perspective of natural hazards, but also from a perspective that encompasses other components such as political, economic, cultural, and social aspects. This essay applies the social construction of risk approach to four districts of Northern Lima with the aim of analysing the socioeconomic processes that have generated the current risk conditions in the study area. Finally, it reviews the remaining aspects and challenges in the implementation of local territorial management plans in disaster risk management.
