Use of AI Tools

The journal Espacio y Desarrollo recognizes the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies, especially generative AI, as a support tool for the execution of research and scientific writing processes. Such use must be governed by ethical principles that guarantee the originality, rigor, and academic transparency of the works published in the journal.

The use of AI is also framed within the principles of research integrity to which Espacio y Desarrollo subscribes, as set forth in the Singapore Statement (www.singaporestatement.org) and the Committee on Publication Ethics, COPE (www.publicationethics.org).

For this reason, the following guidelines are established to promote the responsible use of such tools by authors, in accordance with the international ethical standards to which the journal subscribes:

1) The intellectual responsibility for the work rests exclusively and entirely with the human person(s) in charge of the research. Therefore, the AI tools used cannot have any level of authorship assigned to them.

2) Any use of AI tools during the preparation of the article, especially generative ones, must be explicitly declared. The name of each AI tool used must be indicated, as well as the process in which it was employed and its purpose. An example is provided below:

This article was written entirely by the author(s), who used the following AI tools during the writing process: Jenni AI was used to expand the search for bibliographic sources. Grammarly was used to proofread the text. After conducting searches or tasks with AI, the author(s) have reviewed and verified the validity and accuracy of the data and information provided by these tools and assume full responsibility for the content.

The aforementioned text must be included as a separate section at the end of the manuscript text.

3) The use of images generated and/or manipulated by any type of AI tools is not permitted.
