- Acknowledgements and funding information
Submission formalities
The manuscript should be submitted in a format compatible with the Microsoft Word word processor, with its pages numbered.
The work must conform to the editorial standards of the Journal. Before its admission and during the editorial process, Espacio y Desarrollo may ask the authors for corrections that imply adherence to these standards.
The paper should not exceed 9000 words, considering all sections (titles, summary, abstract, keywords, text, notes, figure legends, acknowledgements and references).
Authors should send a file with the text of the paper, including all tables, figures, audios or videos, accompanied by their explanatory texts and placed in the corresponding place in the article.
In addition, all figures should be sent in their original format (jpg, tiff or png) and in the quality required by the journal (300 dpi). They must be sent separately from the original file of the paper and at the same time the paper is sent.
Together with the manuscript, authors must send a signed Declaration of Scientific Integrity, by which they subscribe to the principles of scientific research to which Espacio y Desarrollo adheres and declare to accept the rules of the Journal.
First page and titles
The first page should include:
- Title of the article in Spanish and English,
- Identification of authors: names, Open Research and Contributor ID (ORCID), institutional affiliation (institution, city and country) and e-mail address.
- Abstract in Spanish and English, with a maximum of 250 words counted in Spanish, and between four and seven key words in Spanish and English.
The main title and the primary, secondary or tertiary subtitles should be clearly hierarchical, giving priority to the font size, although bold or numbers can also be used.
Notes to the text
Notes should be placed at the end of the document and not at the foot of the pages. They in the text are indicated consecutively with superscript Arabic numerals.
Citations and references in the main of the paper
Textual citations should be in the language of the work cited and, when appropriate, authors should provide a translation into the language of the article in a footnote. Care should be taken to ensure that quotations are verbatim and unmodified.
Textual quotations of up to 40 words should be part of the text and be enclosed in quotation marks. High or English quotation marks (“ ”) are preferred.
Quotations longer than 40 words should be separated from the rest of the text by an interline, with double indentation on the left margin of the entire paragraph and without quotation marks.
All citations must refer to the bibliography, including pagination, according to the following example: (Schönberg 2009: 174). Notes should not be used for this purpose, unless the citation requires some precision or comment. In this case, the number of the note should immediately follow the reference: (Serrano et al. 2021: 117).1
If the cited author is mentioned in the text, the year of publication of the work should be indicated in parentheses after his or her last name, with the page number if the reference requires it.
- Example: Georg (1898: 174) affirms that...
If two authors are mentioned, they are cited by their surnames.
- Example: (Irquez & Vladmar 1972).
If there are more than two authors, the first one is indicated followed by the expression et al.
- Example: (Cárdenas et al. 2000: 312).
When several publications are indicated in the same parenthesis or comment, they should be ordered chronologically.
- Example: (Giménez 2006; Restrepo 2011; Márquez 2019).
Acknowledgements and funding information
If the work includes acknowledgements or information about financing, this should be placed immediately before the references. Authors should state there the sources of funding, identifying the funding entity, the name of the project and the year the funds were awarded. Example:
- This work was carried out in the framework of the project “Espacio y fe en la Amazonía”, with the support of the Department of Humanities of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, through the Research Support Grant 2023.
Other links to be noted if applicable:
- Work funded by an agricultural, mining, forestry, etc. company.
- Work prioritized or authorized by a community.
- Work sponsored by government agencies or NGOs.
- Work derived from a doctoral thesis.
References
Under the heading “References”, a list of works should be included, limited exclusively to those cited in the text, notes, footnotes, illustrations, tables, charts, audios and videos.
The list of references should be ordered alphabetically by author, and chronologically in the case of two or more titles by the same author.
When two or more works belonging to the same author coincide in the year of publication, they will be differentiated with the letters a, b, c... Example:
García, J. 2019a. Javier Dávila Durand: nostalgias a lo lejos. Pro and Contra. https://proycontra.com.pe/javier-davila-durand-nostalgias-a-lo-lejos/ [accessed: 29-06-2024].
García, J. 2019b. El discurso literario en el discurso histórico de la Amazonía peruana. Boletín de la Sociedad Geográfica de Lima 132 (128): 123-146.
The editorial information of each reference must be complete and should be ordered as follows: author(s), year of edition, title in italics, place of publication, printer or publisher. The rest of the data such as editors, pages, volume, etc., should be added when it is a reference to a chapter of a book, article, journal, etc.

Figures should be inserted in low quality in the manuscript, with their respective explanatory text.
Figures should be numbered sequentially, in the same order in which they are cited in the text and should be placed immediately after their mention.
The explanatory texts of the figures should include the corresponding credits: author or origin of the figure, photograph, drawing, etc., and possible modifications. In the case of photographs, the author or origin (work from which it was taken) should also be indicated.
The figures that require it must have size indications in metric decimal system; a graphic scale in the case of maps, plans and drawings; and the measurements of the photographed object or of the photograph itself when it constitutes the object.
Graphics are considered “figures” and should be called as such in the manuscript and should be arranged according to the numbering of the figures.
The original figures must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. and must be sent in their original format (jpg, tiff or png) together with the manuscript.
Tables
Tables should be inserted in the manuscript and should be identified with a brief descriptive title. They should be ordered correlatively with Arabic numerals and be properly cited in the text.
In addition, tables should be incorporated in the paper as editable text, not as images.
Audios and videos
Authors should identify the audiovisual resource they are referring to according to editorial standards and the place in the manuscript where the hyperlink to the resource should be placed.
Audios and videos must include the corresponding credits and be presented in high resolution.
