Use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools
The journal Revista Kawsaypacha: Socierdad y Medio Ambiente recognizes the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies as supportive tools in research and academic writing. The use of such tools must comply with internationally accepted standards of scientific integrity, transparency, and academic rigor.
In accordance with best practices in academic publishing, the following guidelines are established:
- Authorship and Responsibility
Authorship entails responsibility and accountability for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of the work. AI tools do not meet the criteria for authorship and must not be recognized as authors under any circumstances. Full responsibility for the content of the manuscript rests exclusively with the human author(s).
- Transparency and Disclosure of Use
Authors must provide a clear and explicit statement regarding the use of AI tools in the preparation of the manuscript. This statement should include:
- the name(s) of the tool(s) used,
- the purpose of their use, and
- the stage(s) of the research or writing process in which they were applied.
The statement must be sufficiently detailed to ensure transparency and reproducibility of the research process. An example is provided below:
This article was written entirely by the author, with the assistance of AI tools. [Tool name] was used to expand the search for bibliographic sources. [Tool name] was also used for text editing. After using these tools, the author reviewed and verified the validity of the data presented and assumes full responsibility for the published content.

- Verification and Integrity of Content
Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy, validity, and relevance of all content generated or assisted by AI tools. The use of AI does not exempt authors from their obligation to ensure the reliability of data, the proper use of citations, and the prevention of plagiarism or fabrication of information.
- Location of the Statement
The AI use disclosure must be included as a separate section within the manuscript, typically at the end of the document (in the Declarations section).
- Limitations on the Use of AI-Generated Content
The use of images, figures, or visual materials generated or manipulated by AI tools is not permitted, unless expressly authorized by the journal and properly disclosed. Any unauthorized use may constitute grounds.
