Author Guidelines

Articles must be submitted through the OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform: https://revistas.pucp.edu.pe/index.php/kaylla/index. If the article has collective authorship, each person must register on the OJS platform with their personal information, although only one will be responsible for correspondence. It is not possible to submit or have two manuscripts under review simultaneously. Only one manuscript per author per issue is allowed.

Bibliographical reviews and interviews may be submitted and are subject to internal evaluation.

  1. Type and Topic of the Manuscript:

1.1. Kaylla accepts contributions that present academic reflections and/or research findings in the field of performing arts.

1.2. Articles must be unpublished and original. Simultaneous submission to other journals is not allowed.

1.3. Articles are subject to a double-blind peer review system.

1.4. Articles can be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese, or English and will be published in their original language.

1.5. Texts must be between 5,000 and 6,000 words, A4 page size, 1.5 line spacing, Arial font, and 12-point size. For reviews, the maximum length is 1,500 words.

  1. Structure and Format:

Two files must be submitted simultaneously: a) Author Data, b) Anonymized Article, according to the detailed guidelines, including title, abstract, and keywords in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

  1. a) Author Data

Full names of each author in order of precedence. In case of more than three authors, the original contribution of the team must be duly justified, as this will be considered in the manuscript’s assessment. Alongside the names, include the highest academic degree obtained, institution, country, email address of each author, and ORCID number. Registration in the International Researcher Registry (ORCID) (http://orcid.org) is mandatory.

For multiple authors, it is recommended to use the CRediT Taxonomy to indicate the contributions, roles, or functions of each author.

  1. b) Article

The article should be organized clearly and comprehensibly. It must not include author data or information that could reveal their identities. If there are self-citations or references to the authors’ own works, they must be omitted and replaced by "(Author, year)" and "Section removed to preserve author anonymity." Once the text is accepted for publication, it is the authors' responsibility to reintegrate this information.

It is recommended that the article contains the following elements:

Article title (concise yet informative), first in Spanish, then Portuguese, and English, including as many significant terms as possible. A maximum of two lines (16 words) is allowed.

Abstract in Spanish (Resumen), Portuguese (Resumo), and English, up to 200 words, concisely describing the article’s subject, objectives, main concepts, findings, or conclusions. It should be written in third person: “This study analyzes…”.

Additionally, three to five keywords must be provided in all three languages. The use of automatic translators is not allowed. It is recommended to use descriptors from the UNESCO Thesaurus (https://bit.ly/2To1QN1).

  • Introduction: Presents the article’s subject and content.
  • Methodology: Describes the methodology of the study.
  • Development: Expands on the different ideas, concepts, descriptions, etc., that make up the body of the article.
  • Findings and Conclusions: States and justifies the findings and/or conclusions reached in the research presented.
  • Footnotes: These provide clarifying notes and always appear as footnotes on each page. The footnote numbers are written in superscript in both the main text and the note, placed before a closing period or comma. Notes for simple bibliographic citations (without comments) are not allowed; these should be included in the references.
  • References: The journal uses APA citation style (7th edition). You can consult the guidelines at: http://www.apastyle.org/. References must include all citations (direct and indirect) used throughout the text and vice versa.

III. Tables, Graphs, and Images:

Tables and graphs must be created with MS Office or similar and inserted in the appropriate place in the text, preceded by a numbered title and the source reference. In addition to being pasted in Word, images and other graphic materials must be submitted separately (always in the original application format: Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Acrobat, etc.).

Photos and screenshots must be in .jpg or .png files, with a resolution of 300 pixels per inch (minimum 200 KB). If the photos are too large to attach via OJS, they may be sent via services such as Google Drive or WeTransfer to the journal’s email (kaylla@pucp.edu.pe). Any image included must be original or have the corresponding rights and permissions according to the original image’s license.

  • The article has not been previously published nor submitted to another journal.
  • The submitted article is in Microsoft Word format and does not include author data, anonymizing any self-citation or information that may reveal this information.
  • Author data is submitted separately, including full names, ORCID, email addresses, degree, and affiliated institution.
  • The article is 1.5 spaced; the font is Arial; the font size is 12 points; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are within the text at their appropriate location, not at the end of the article.

On the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The journal KAYLLA acknowledges the use of tools based on large language models (LLMs) and generative artificial intelligence (AI) as support for some research processes and scientific writing. This use must be governed by ethical principles that guarantee the originality, rigor, and academic transparency of the works published in the journal.

For this reason, the following guidelines are established to promote the responsible use of these tools by authors:

  • The intellectual responsibility for the work rests exclusively and entirely with the human person in charge of the research. Therefore, the AI tools used cannot have any level of authorship assigned.

  • Any use of AI tools during the preparation of the article must be explicitly declared and mentioned. The name of each AI tool must be indicated, as well as the process in which it was used. An example is provided below:

"This article was written entirely by the author, with the help of AI tools. Jenni AI was used to expand the search for bibliographic sources. Grammarly was also used for text correction. After using the mentioned tools, the author has reviewed and verified the validity of the data presented and assumes full responsibility for the published content."

  • The mentioned text must be included as a separate section at the end of the manuscript.

  • The use of images generated and/or manipulated by any type of AI tools is not permitted.
