The purpose of the study was to establish the relationship between sex and level of intrinsic motivation of students in physical education classes of the average level of Argentine educational institutions on the willingness to experience the state of flow, and the level and intention of physical activity practice. The results of the MANOVA revealed the existence of differences in all the variables according to sex and the level of intrinsic motivation, not observing an effect of the significant interaction between both independent variables. The finding of a larger effect size in the differences found in terms of motivation suggests that this factor may be more determinant than sex in the explanation of variables related to physical-sporting practice.
