Implementation of the First Integral Laboratory for the Restoration of Peru’s Film Heritage: The Role of Guarango Film and Video Association

Es magíster en Docencia para la Educación Superior por la Universidad Andrés Bello de Chile (2020), y egresada de la Facultad de Educación de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (2008) y de la Escuela de Teatro (2001). Actualmente, se desempeña como docente de la carrera de Artes Escénicas de la Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC). Ha sido directora de Radioteatro UPC para UPC Cultural. En 2021, publicó el artículo «La experiencia del teatro digital durante la pandemia por la COVID-19 en Lima» en el número 16 de Conexión, y participó en el libro digital Vivências de mulheres no tempo e espaço da pandemia de Covid-19, publicado por la editora CRV, con el artículo «SEGUIR CREANDO: casos de artistas escénicas creando durante el confinamiento estricto por la crisis del Covid-19 en Lima».

Abstract

The essay analyzes the process of implementation of the first integral restoration laboratory by Guarango Film and Video Association (Guarango) in Peru. This milestone is based on a culture of research, innovation, continuous training, and effective fund management. It highlights Guarango’s commitment to the enhancement of film heritage and the development of the national film industry. It examines the state of regional film heritage, Guarango’s experience as an organization, its high-quality productions, and technological advances. It also details the restoration process, quality control and laboratory equipment. The case of Guarango represents a significant advance for the film industry, standing out as an example of commitment to the preservation of audiovisual heritage and the promotion of national cinema.
