Author Guidelines

Conexión accepts articles, essays, bibliographic reviews, and interviews in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. 

As part of our editorial policy, an author cannot publish more than one text per year.

1. Structure and Format of Articles

1.1. Articles must be unpublished and original, resulting from empirical or theoretical research leading to the verification or refutation of a hypothesis.

1.2. The document should be submitted in Microsoft Word, A4 paper size, 1.5 line spacing, Arial font, 12-point size.

1.3. Articles should have an approximate length of up to 9000 words. The references section is not considered for these purposes.

1.4. The structure of the article should include:

• Title in English, Portuguese, and Spanish (with the native language listed first).
• Author(s) identification: academic degree, full name, academic affiliation, country, email, and ORCID.
• Brief CV of the author(s) in Spanish: between four and five lines summarizing recent activities such as publications, conferences, and ongoing research topics.
• Article abstract in English, Portuguese, and Spanish (with the native language listed first), with a maximum length of 150 words.
• Keywords (up to 6) in English, Portuguese, and Spanish (with the native language listed first).
• Body of the article.
• Bibliography

 1.5 Tables, Graphs, and Images:

Tables and graphs should be created using Microsoft Office and pasted in their proper place in the text, preceded by a numbered title that organizes them, as well as a reference to the source. In addition to inserting them into the Word document, images and other graphic materials should be sent separately (always in the original version of the application used: Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel, etc.). Photos and screenshots should be in .jpg or .png files, with a resolution of 300 dpi (minimum file size should be 2 MB).

1.6. Bibliography:
The bibliography must adhere to the APA standards (7th edition). Please refer to: https://apastyle.apa.org

2. Essay structure and format

2.1. Essays must express the opinion of a single author regarding a specific theme; therefore, their nature can be interpretative, argumentative, explanatory, etc.

2.2. The essay should encompass an updated and critical state of the art section.

2.3. The foundation of the essay should engage with previously published literature.

2.4. Essays should have a maximum approximate length of 5000 words. The references section is not considered in the word count. 

The structure of the essay will be:

• Title in English, Portuguese, and Spanish (with the native language listed first).
• Author(s) Identification: academic degree, full name, academic affiliation, country, email, and ORCID.
• Brief CV of the author(s) in Spanish: between four and five lines detailing their recent activities such as publications, conferences, ongoing research topics.
• Essay abstract in English, Portuguese, and Spanish (with the native language listed first) with a maximum length of 150 words.
• Keywords (up to 6) in English, Portuguese, and Spanish (with the native language listed first).
• Essay body.

3. Structure and Format of Bibliographic Reviews 

3.1. Bibliographic reviews should focus on publications such as books, documentaries, films, photographs, etc., with an age not exceeding 2 years.

3.2. Reviews should have a maximum approximate length of 3000 words. The references section is not considered for these purposes.

3.3 The structure of the review will be:

• Title: Should include the name of the reviewed work and its author, translated into English, Portuguese, and Spanish (with the native language listed first).
• Author(s) Identification: academic degree, full name, academic affiliation, country, email, and ORCID.
• Brief CV of the author(s) in Spanish: between four and five lines detailing their recent activities such as publications, conferences, ongoing research topics.
• Body of the review.

4. Structure and Format of Interviews

4.1. Only interviews conducted by the author with individuals of undeniable relevance and importance within the field of communications will be accepted.

4.2. Interviews should have a maximum approximate length of 5000 words.

4.3. The structure of the interview will be:

• Title: Should include the topic and the name of the interviewee, translated into English, Portuguese, and Spanish (with the native language listed first).
• Author(s) Identification: academic degree, full name, academic affiliation, country, email, and ORCID.
• Brief CV of the author(s) in Spanish: between four and five lines detailing their recent activities such as publications, conferences, ongoing research topics.
• Body of the interview.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors must ensure that their submission meets all the elements outlined below. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will be returned to the authors.

1. The manuscript has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted to another journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Editor's Comments).
2. The submitted file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format.
3. Web addresses for references have been provided where possible.
4. The text has 1.5 line spacing; the font size is 12 points; italics are used instead of underlining (except for URLs); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text where they belong, not at the end.
5. The text follows the bibliographic and style requirements outlined in the Guidelines for Authors.
