The low frequency and often unique topographic setting of small circular stone ring structures of the late Paiján phase (ca. 11,200-9800 cal BP) necessitate a reconsideration of their nature and meaning at sites in several north coast valleys of Perú. It was previosly thought that they were exclusively domestic in function; however, it is now hypothesized that some may be multifunctional, including ritual activities.Downloads
