Abstract

Formative Period Diagnostic Materials of the Chao and Santa Valleys, North Coast of Perú

As a result of the author’s surface surveys in the Chao and Santa valleys, a series of data of Formative Period archaeological sites were recovered. The Chao valley is located to the north of the Santa valley and both share an almost parallel direction of their rivers. At the middle part of their basins routes connect the valleys and allow access to the near highlands since the Preceramic Period. This paper present ceramics with incised decoration gathered from excavations and surface surveys as well as conical mud bricks from monumental structures.
