Abstract

In this article, we discuss how the mediatization of the Rouanet Law is linked to the dismantling of the cultural sector in the political sphere through disinformation. Considering the period between 2016 and 2022, we selected media products for analysis to understand how the mediatization of the Rouanet Law fostered discourse against the cultural sector, even when based on disinformation, during the pre-election years, culminating in the election of its opposing group. Our hypothesis is that, by associating the Rouanet Law with a specific political group, culture was politically delegitimized. As a result, we show how fake news shaped public opinion.
