Abstract

This paper presents the contributions of the first stage of the investigation
«Theories and challenges in teacher education in Mexico,» which analyzes as
part of the transition from the current educational reform mastery of teaching
skills of teachers. The aim of this study was to identify the education and training
of teachers of primary and secondary higher state of Tlaxcala to develop their
teaching skills and education. The research was conducted with a cross-cutting
descriptive quantitative methodology, were surveyed 346 teachers from the three
educational levels. In the results it is emphasized that a considerable number of
teachers lack pedagogical training and acquire specific skills for the exercise of the
teaching function.
