Kaylla is a Journal of the Academic Department of Performing Arts at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) aimed at fostering, promoting, and disseminating academic reflection on and from the performing arts. Kaylla aims to be a window into artistic research at our university and a sounding board for what is happening in the performing arts scene both in Peru and the region.
The journal has two types of calls for papers: permanent and thematic (dossier). For the permanent call, articles are received throughout the year and, as texts arrive, they are submitted for peer review. If they receive positive evaluations, they are published throughout the year. In addition, our thematic dossier has an annual periodicity and is published in November. All articles are original and undergo a double-blind peer review process before publication. The journal is distributed online, and full-text access to manuscripts is free.
Kaylla, a Quechua word associated with border, edge, and boundary, not only demarcates one space from another but also emphasizes the border as a zone of transition and active contact. From this concept, we propose that Kaylla be that space of reflective encounter that allows us to connect with the multiplicity of possibilities for approaching theatrical research and creation.
