From the chapter "Peruvian women" to "Prominent women in Peru". Genealogies, admiration and affect in two texts by Zoila Aurora Cáceres

Abstract

This article discusses two key texts within the genealogical production of Peruvian female intellectuals active during the first half of the twentieth century, both authored by Zoila Aurora Cáceres and written between 1909 and 1946. Using comparative analysis grounded in the theory of affects as a point of departure, this paper examines women, their actions, and the possible motives underlying their inclusion, and how it was carried out. Furthermore, it identifies the names and merits highlighted in these texts which, from Cáceres’s perspective, illustrate the social changes experienced by Peruvian women between the composition of each work, with the rise of women’s collectives with diverse interests being the most significant.
