Dissident subjectivities and garbage in Manual práctico del odio by Ferréz

Abstract

This article analyzes, from a transdisciplinary approach, the work Ferréz’s Manual práctico del odio, situated within the Brazilian Marginal Literature Movement. It is argued that most of its characters are configured as endriagos subjects (Valencia), that is, subjectivities produced in neoliberal contexts where (extreme) violence operates as a mechanism for the production of value and power. Within this framework, the characters seek to resignify themselves through consumption and money obtained through necropolitical practices. Furthermore, these subjects inhabit a favela represented as a garbage-place (Pardo), understood as a space of social relegation where subjects and ways of life expelled from symbolic centrality are concentrated.
