In this interview, based on our 2023 book Researching with Art and Poetry (Gedisa), we discuss the impact of artistic and poetic devices on the critical development of qualitative methodologies in social sciences. We highlight the powerful implications of the arts as a fundamental contribution to the development of critical qualitative methodologies that allow for an open, interdisciplinary dialogue that can redefine the human experience of participants in social science research processes. This interview is guided by the principles of duoethnography, as a guiding thread and methodological strategy for our experience as researchers. We offer some reflections to further build bridges between the arts and the social sciences, to broaden our understanding of everyday experience, and to construct forms of resistance against colonialism, patriarchy, and capitalism, including environmental exploitation.
